How many porta potties does your party need?
A party of up to 4 hours needs 1 standard porta potty per 50 guests, rounded up. A party over 4 hours adds 1 unit per 100 guests. Serving beer or wine adds 1 more unit per 100 guests, with a minimum of 1. A 75-guest graduation party for 3 hours needs 2 units.
| Guests | Party up to 4 hours | Party over 4 hours | Add if alcohol is served |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25 | 1 unit | 2 units | +1 |
| 50 | 1 unit | 2 units | +1 |
| 75 | 2 units | 3 units | +1 |
| 100 | 2 units | 3 units | +1 |
| 150 | 3 units | 5 units | +2 |
| 200 | 4 units | 6 units | +2 |
Public events should make at least 1 unit wheelchair-accessible. For any other headcount, use the porta potty calculator.
Two units let you mark one for men and one for women, even when one unit covers the headcount. Guests at a family party tend to come and go, so the busy hour is when food comes out.

Graduation weekends fill up. Call Shawn with the date and headcount and get the count and full price on one call.
When is the porta potty dropped off and picked up?
Party porta potties are dropped off on Friday for a Saturday event and picked up on Monday. The extra days cost nothing. Sunday events get a Friday or Saturday drop-off, because the office is closed Sunday. Event units are picked up automatically the next business day, so there is nothing to call about after the party.

Friday delivery
The driver texts about 30 minutes ahead and leaves the unit level, stocked and locked if you asked.
Monday pickup
We collect it the next business day. Leave the gate unlocked or text the code.
Saturday morning delivery can be requested, but Friday is the safer choice for a party that starts at noon. Reunions on a Friday evening can be delivered Thursday at the same price.
Do you need a handwashing station when food is served?
A party that serves food should have a place to wash hands with soap and water. Plan 1 handwashing station for every 2 standard units, with a minimum of 1. Flushing units with a sink inside cover handwashing on their own. Hand sanitizer in a standard unit does not replace a sink at a cookout.
A handwashing station rental has 2 sinks, foot pumps, soap and paper towels, so two guests wash at once. Set it between the restrooms and the food table.
A flushing porta potty with a sink costs more per unit but skips the separate station. It suits showers, anniversaries and smaller parties where guests expect a flush.

What does an event porta potty rental cost?
An event porta potty rental in Erie starts at $165 for a standard unit, one flat price from drop-off to pickup for up to 4 days. Delivery and pickup is $49 in the Erie core zone. A 60-guest graduation party with food needs 2 standard units and 1 handwashing station, about $450 before tax.
| Unit | Event price (up to 4 days) | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Standard porta potty | From $165 | Backyard parties, picnics, reunions |
| Wheelchair-accessible unit | From $225 | Church picnics, park pavilions, older guests |
| Handwashing station | From $115 | Any party with food |
| Deluxe flushing with sink | From $295 | Showers, anniversaries, nicer parties |
| VIP luxury single | From $375 | Small upscale parties near an outlet |
Prices are before 6% PA sales tax. Parties with 3 or more units on one order get 10% off the units. Delivery outside the core zone is $69–$99 in Erie County. More examples are in the graduation party porta potty guide.
Worked example: 60 guests, 4 hours, food
60 guests divided by 50 is 1.2, so round up to 2 standard units at $165 each, or $330. Food adds 1 handwashing station at $115. Three units take 10% off, so the units come to $400.50. Add $49 delivery and pickup for a total of $449.50 before tax. Two flushing units with sinks instead come to $639 before tax.
Where should the porta potty go at a backyard party?
A backyard party porta potty goes on flat, firm ground, close enough for guests to find and far enough from the food table to keep the smell away. Our truck has to get within about 15 feet of the spot. If the path is firm and level, the crew can dolly a unit up to about 75 feet.
- Gates need about 4 feet of clear width. A standard unit is about 44 inches wide.
- Tell us about septic lines, sprinkler heads and buried utilities before delivery.
- Face the door away from the patio and toward a path guests can see at dusk.
- Avoid soft lawns after rain. We will suggest the driveway instead.
More ideas, with photos, are in where to put a porta potty.
Can you lock the units before the party starts?
Every event unit can come with a free lock hasp. A lock matters when the unit sits overnight at a church lot, a park pavilion or a front yard before Saturday. Add your own padlock, keep the key with the host, and unlock the unit when the first guests arrive.
Park events may need permission from whoever runs the park. Presque Isle State Park is run by PA DCNR, so ask the park office first. City and township parks have their own rules, so call the parks office before you book.
Party porta potty questions
These are the party questions that change what you book: hourly pricing, Sunday dates, extra fees, cleaning during a two-day party and moving the unit yourself. Each answer leads with the fact. For a full planning checklist, see our event restroom checklist before you call Shawn.
I only need it for 4 hours. Is it cheaper?
The event price is the same for a 4-hour brunch or a full weekend. It covers drop-off to pickup, up to 4 days, so there is no hourly rate. The standard unit is the lowest-cost option, from $165.
Our reunion is on a Sunday. When do you bring it?
Sunday events get a Saturday or Friday drop-off, because the office and trucks do not run on Sunday. Pickup is Monday. You pay one event price for the whole stretch.
Are there extra fees on top of the event price?
The only other lines are delivery and pickup, charged once per order, and 6% PA sales tax. No fuel surcharge, card fee or removal fee gets added. You see the full total before you pay.
Can it be cleaned in the middle of a two-day party?
Book an extra service visit for $45 per unit and the crew pumps, scrubs and restocks between days. Without it, one standard unit holds about 200 uses, which covers most one-day parties.
Can I have it dropped at my house and move it to the park myself?
Moving a unit yourself is not safe. Once the blue chemical is in the tank it is heavy and can spill. Tell us the real spot and the driver sets it there.
How far ahead should I book for a June graduation party?
Book 2 to 3 weeks ahead for June graduation weekends and July 4th. Most other weekends need only 1 to 2 days notice. Our event restroom planning checklist covers the rest.
