Rental terms and cancellation policy

These terms apply to every porta potty, handwashing station and restroom trailer rented from Shawn Rental Works, 2126 Filmore Ave, Erie, PA 16506. They are written in plain English. Questions? Call (814) 245-2757.

Effective October 11, 2026

How is payment handled?

Event rentals are paid in full when you book. Monthly rentals are charged at booking and then every 28 days to the card on file until the unit is picked up. Business accounts can be invoiced on net-15 terms after the first paid rental. Checks are accepted for approved accounts. Tax-exempt groups send a certificate before booking.

  • We accept major credit and debit cards. There is no card surcharge.
  • Pennsylvania sales tax of 6% applies unless you provide a valid exemption certificate.
  • Your quote lists every charge. We do not add fuel, removal or admin fees afterward.

How does the 28-day billing cycle work?

Monthly porta potty rentals bill on a 28-day cycle that starts on the delivery day, not on a calendar month. Weekly service is included in each cycle. The card on file is charged at the start of each new cycle. A cycle that has started is billed in full, even if pickup is requested partway through.

Need a unit for a short job? The 7-day short-job rate and the event rate exist so you do not pay for 28 days you will not use. See short-term rentals and long-term rentals.

What is the cancellation policy?

Porta potty and handwashing station orders can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before the scheduled delivery. Same-day orders can be cancelled free until the truck is dispatched. Restroom trailers can be cancelled free up to 7 days before delivery. After that, a trailer cancellation is charged at 50% of the rental price.

  • Rescheduling is free with 24 hours notice, subject to availability on the new date.
  • Refunds go back to the original card within 5 to 10 business days.
  • If we cannot deliver on the date we confirmed, you get a full refund or a free reschedule, your choice.

What do I need to do before delivery?

Before delivery, the renter provides a flat, firm spot the truck can reach, a clear path and any gate code. A standard unit needs about 4 by 4 feet. A wheelchair-accessible unit needs about 8 by 8 feet. A restroom trailer needs level ground, a dedicated outlet and a garden hose within 50 feet.

  • Tell us about septic lines, sprinkler heads, buried utilities, low wires and soft ground before delivery.
  • If the driver cannot reach the spot because of a locked gate or a blocked path, we place the unit at the closest safe spot or reschedule. A second trip may carry a delivery charge.
  • Units placed on a street, sidewalk or curb lane may need a permit from the City of Erie or your township. Getting that permit is the renter's job.
  • We are not responsible for normal tire marks on driveways or ruts in soft lawns when the renter chose the spot.

Who is responsible for damage?

The renter is responsible for damage beyond normal use while the unit is on site. That includes fire, tipping, vandalism, graffiti, missing units and objects dropped in the tank that block pumping. Damage is charged at repair cost, or replacement cost if the unit cannot be repaired. Normal wear and normal waste are never charged.

A free lock hasp is available on any unit. Locking the unit overnight at parks, churches and open jobsites prevents most damage.

How do servicing and extra visits work?

Monthly rentals include one service visit per week: pump-out, scrub, fresh deodorizer and restock. Extra service visits cost $45 per unit and can be booked by phone. Event rentals arrive clean and stocked but are not serviced during the rental unless service is booked. If a gate is locked on service day, the visit is rescheduled.

How do I end the rental and request pickup?

Event units are picked up automatically on the next business day after the event. Monthly and jobsite units stay until you request pickup by phone or text, with 1 business day notice. Billing stops at the end of the 28-day cycle in which you request pickup. Please keep the path to the unit clear for the driver.

What else should I know?

Delivery windows run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Saturday, and the driver texts about 30 minutes ahead. Requested times are honored when routes allow, but are not guaranteed. Prices on this website are starting prices before tax. Your written quote is the final price for the order it describes.
