How does 28-day billing work on a monthly rental?
The 28-day billing cycle starts on the day the unit is delivered, not the 1st of the month. Your card on file is charged at the start of each 28-day cycle until you call for pickup. That makes 13 cycles in a full year. Weekly service is included in every cycle, about 4 visits each.
| Cycle | Dates covered | What is charged | Standard unit from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cycle 1 | March 3 to March 30 | Unit rate, plus the one-time delivery and pickup charge | $185 + $49 |
| Cycle 2 | March 31 to April 27 | Unit rate only | $185 |
| Cycle 3 | April 28 to May 25 | Unit rate only | $185 |
| Pickup requested | Any day in a cycle | No new cycle starts after pickup | $0 |
Example uses the Erie core zone delivery charge. 6% PA sales tax is added to each charge. There is no removal fee at the end.
The first bill is higher only because it carries the delivery and pickup round trip. Every later cycle is the unit rate and tax. The cycle you are in when you call for pickup is the last one billed.

What does a monthly porta potty rental cost?
A monthly porta potty rental in Erie starts at $185 per 28 days for a standard unit with weekly service. A flushing unit with a sink starts at $325, a wheelchair-accessible unit at $245, and a handwashing station at $145. Prices are before 6% PA sales tax, plus one delivery and pickup charge per order.
| Unit | Per 28 days, from | Weekly service covers |
|---|---|---|
| Standard porta potty | $185 | Pump, scrub, paper and sanitizer, fresh blue chemical |
| Deluxe flushing with sink | $325 | All of the above, plus flush water, soap and towels |
| Wheelchair-accessible unit | $245 | Pump, scrub, paper and sanitizer, fresh chemical |
| Handwashing station | $145 | Fresh water, gray water emptied, soap and towels |
Extra service visits are $45 per unit. Twice-weekly service for heavy use is quoted as an add-on. Three or more units on one order save 10% on the units. Long-term contractors can ask about account pricing. See every rate in the Erie porta potty cost guide.
What happens at each weekly service visit?
Each weekly service visit pumps the waste tank, scrubs the seat, walls and touch points, adds fresh blue deodorizing chemical, and restocks paper and sanitizer. Flushing units and handwashing stations also get fresh water, soap and paper towels. The driver needs a clear path and an open gate on service day.
Text us the gate code and a contact number. If a locked gate keeps the driver out, the unit may miss its cleaning that week. Call and Shawn sets a make-up visit.
Barely using the unit? Weekly service still comes with every monthly rental. The visit keeps the chemical fresh, the paper dry and the smell down, even when traffic is light.

How do you extend or stop a monthly rental?
A monthly rental extends on its own. Keep the unit and the next 28-day cycle starts on schedule, with the same weekly service. To stop billing, text or call 1 business day before you want the unit gone. Monthly units are never picked up automatically, so the call is what ends the rental.
Check your cycle date
Your next cycle starts 28 days after the last one. Your receipt shows the date.
Text or call for pickup
Give 1 business day notice. Calling before the next cycle date avoids another charge.
Clear the path
Leave the gate open or text the code. You do not need to be there.
Final receipt
No new cycle starts, and there is no removal fee.
Jobs that run long are the reason the 28-day term exists. A job that might end in a week can use the short-term 7-day rate instead.
Can I pay by invoice instead of a card?
Businesses can pay by invoice after their first paid rental. The first rental goes on a credit or debit card. After that, Shawn can bill your account on net-15 terms, and approved accounts can pay by check. Tax-exempt organizations send their certificate once and no sales tax is charged after that.
Homeowners usually keep a card on file, charged once each cycle. Want to change the card? Call the office and it is updated before the next cycle date. The full terms are in our rental terms.
What changes for a monthly rental in an Erie winter?
Monthly units in Erie get a non-freezing brine charge in the tank from November through March, so the tank does not ice up. Weekly service keeps running all winter. You keep a shoveled path to the door. Set the unit away from roof drip lines and the spot where the plow piles snow.
Lake-effect weeks. Erie averages around 100 inches of snow a season, and a big storm can drop feet in a couple of days. A clear path lets the driver reach the unit on service day. Read the Erie winter porta potty guide.
Monthly rental questions
These monthly rental questions cover what changes the bill: odd lengths like 5 weeks, the first charge, removal fees, adding units mid-job and who uses the 28-day rate. Each answer starts with the fact. For jobsite counts and OSHA rules, see the construction page before you order.
I need it about 5 weeks. Do I pay for two months?
Five weeks runs into a second 28-day cycle, so you pay for 2 cycles. Two cycles cover 56 days, which leaves room if the job runs over. Call for pickup before day 57 to avoid a third cycle.
Why is the first charge higher than the rest?
The first charge includes the one-time delivery and pickup round trip, $49 in the Erie core zone. Later cycles are the unit rate and tax only. Nothing extra is added when the unit leaves.
Is it cheaper per month if I rent for a year?
Every cycle is billed at the same rate. Orders with 3 or more units take 10% off the units, and contractors with steady long-term rentals can ask Shawn about account pricing.
Can I add a second unit for a busy month?
Call and a second unit is added on the next route. It starts its own 28-day cycle on the day it arrives, and you can send it back on its own schedule.
Who usually rents by the month?
Monthly rentals suit builders, remodels, farms, offices on raw land and families living on-site. Contractors should also see construction site toilet counts. Ball fields and marinas use the same rate for a seasonal rental.
