How do the porta potty rental options compare?
The porta potty rental options differ in five ways that matter: flushing, handwashing, step-free access, hookups and the space each one takes. A standard unit fits almost anywhere with no hookups. A restroom trailer gives guests a real bathroom but needs power, water, level ground and room for a truck.
| Unit | Best use | Flushing | Handwashing | Wheelchair access | Water or power | Space (approx.) | Main limitation | Event from | Monthly from |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Jobsites, yard parties, remodels | No | Hand sanitizer | No | None | 4 x 4 ft | No sink, no flush | $165 | $185 |
| Deluxe flushing | Showers, backyard weddings, home use | Foot-pump flush | Foot-pump sink, soap, towels | No | None | 4 x 4 ft | Flush water lasts 50–75 flushes | $295 | $325 |
| Wheelchair-accessible | Public events, parks, crews | No | Pair with a handwash station | Ground-level door, 60-in turning space | None | 8 x 8 ft flat pad | Too big for most side gates | $225 | $245 |
| Handwashing station | Food events, every jobsite | Not a toilet | 2 sinks, 300–400 washes per fill | Ask Shawn | None | 3 x 3 ft | Needs refills on long events | $115 | $145 |
| VIP luxury single | Small upscale parties, open houses | Ceramic flushing toilet | Running-water sink | No | 110V outlet within 50 ft | 4 x 4 ft, level | One room, needs power | $375 | Call |

How do I choose the right porta potty rental?
Choose a porta potty rental by answering four questions in order: who will use it, how long it stays, whether food is served, and what power, water and space you have. Most Erie jobsites end at a standard unit. Most weddings end at deluxe units or a restroom trailer.
Who is using it?
A work crew needs a standard unit. Guests in dress clothes expect a flush and a sink, so look at deluxe, VIP or a trailer. Any public event needs at least one wheelchair-accessible unit.
How long is it staying?
Events of up to 4 days get one flat price. Jobs of a week use the 7-day rate, from $145 with one cleaning. Longer jobs go on 28-day billing with weekly service.
Is food being served?
Plan one handwashing station for every 2 toilets, unless you rent deluxe units that already have a sink. Sanitizer alone is not enough for a buffet line.
What does the site have?
No power and no hose? Stick with standard, deluxe, accessible and handwash units. Have a free outlet and a spigot with level ground? A VIP unit or a trailer becomes an option.
For the count, the porta potty calculator does the math from your headcount, hours and bar. A 150-guest wedding with a bar that runs 6 hours needs 7 units, or one restroom trailer plus 3 standard units.
When is each porta potty option the wrong choice?
Each porta potty option has a job it does badly. A standard unit is wrong for a formal wedding. A deluxe unit is wrong for 200 people without a refill. A restroom trailer is wrong for a muddy back field with no outlet. Knowing the limits up front saves a second delivery.
| Unit | Wrong for | Rent this instead |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Formal weddings, food events with no sink nearby, guests using wheelchairs | Deluxe units, or standard plus a handwash station and an accessible unit |
| Deluxe flushing | Large crowds all day, jobsites with heavy use | Mix deluxe with standard units, or book a mid-event refill |
| Wheelchair-accessible | Narrow side yards and gates, steep or soft ground | A flat, firm 8 x 8 ft pad the truck can reach |
| Handwashing station | Replacing a toilet; multi-day events with no refill | Add a scheduled service visit, $45 per unit |
| VIP luxury single | Sites with no outlet within 50 ft, crowds over a small party | Deluxe flushing units, or a restroom trailer |
| Restroom trailer | No level ground, no power or hose, last-minute bookings, guests who cannot use steps | Deluxe units plus one wheelchair-accessible unit |
Which porta potty fits a jobsite, a party or a wedding?
A jobsite usually needs a standard porta potty on weekly service, plus a handwashing station. A backyard party needs standard or deluxe units dropped off the day before. A wedding needs deluxe units, a VIP single or a restroom trailer, plus one wheelchair-accessible unit for guests who need step-free access.

Can I mix different porta potty types on one order?
Mixing porta potty types on one order is common and often the smartest setup. A wedding might use one restroom trailer, two standard units near the dance floor and one wheelchair-accessible unit. Delivery and pickup is charged once per order, and 3 or more units on one order get 10% off the units.
A mix covers the weak spots of each unit. Standard units take the overflow that would drain a deluxe flush tank. An accessible unit covers guests who cannot climb trailer steps.
Units in one cluster share one trip. A jobsite might pair a standard unit with a handwashing station on the same weekly service route.

Questions about choosing a porta potty type
These answers cover the choices people weigh before they book a porta potty type in Erie: sink or no sink, flushing or not, unit size, hookups and how event units differ from jobsite units. Each answer gives the short version first. Call Shawn if your site or event does not fit any of them.
Is the unit with a sink bigger than a regular porta potty?
The deluxe unit with a sink has the same footprint as a standard porta potty, about 44 by 47 inches. Only the wheelchair-accessible unit, about 7.5 by 7.5 feet, and the restroom trailer take more room.
Is it cheaper to get a sink inside or a separate handwash station?
For one or two toilets, a deluxe unit with a sink inside often costs about the same as a standard unit plus a handwashing station. For a crowd, standard units plus a station usually cost less. The station also lets 2 people wash at once, outside the toilet line.
Do any of these need to be hooked up to water or power?
Standard, deluxe, wheelchair-accessible and handwashing units need no hookups. They carry their own tanks. The VIP luxury unit needs a standard 110V outlet within about 50 feet. The restroom trailer needs a dedicated 20-amp outlet and a garden hose, or a fresh-water tank fill on request.
Does a 2-station trailer mean two stalls for men and two for women?
A 2-station restroom trailer has one room for men and one room for women. Each room has its own door, flushing toilet and sink. It serves about 100 guests over a 5-hour evening event.
Are event units nicer than construction units?
Every unit leaves the yard cleaned, sanitized and stocked, whether it goes to a wedding or a jobsite. If looks matter for your event, say so when you book. Shawn will send the cleanest-looking units on the lot for that delivery.
Can I swap to a different unit after I book?
Swapping units is free with 24 hours notice before delivery. You pay the difference in the starting price. Restroom trailers depend on availability, so a late switch to a trailer may not be possible in June or on holiday weekends.
